Yakuza: Like a Dragon has been an absolute slog. Unlike Yakuza: Infinite Wealth, you can’t take shortcuts to levelling up your characters by buying booster packs, and instead have to endure a long, son-of-a-bastard grindfest. Finishing this game compared to the sequel was a doddle, but the additional hours in the sewers made this feel like Skyrim.
This isn’t a proper guide or a quick solution to your woes, but I’ll provide a detailed summary of my strategy, stats, and party members for the True Final Millennium Tower.
Levels And Ranks
Let’s assume you’re an above-average game, but not the type that can defeat endgame bosses in your smalls. You will need to get to level 99 for all characters, and a minimum of 90 (do 99) for one job rank. Simply grind the Kamurochō sewers and farm the Invested Vagabonds to do this. Target these first using Joon-gi for his rapid shot, as well as using either Saeko or Eri with the matriarch job skill Bullet of Honor, if you have the DLC. Just outside the sewers are vending machines where you can buy sengoku coffee to boost cash, and kiwami drinks for EXP. You can only carry five, so stash them. It speeds things up, but it’s not essential.

I’ve read many Reddit posts on what the best jobs are and who should do what, but you do you. Generally, most people have nailed it with the following ‘best’ setup:
- Ichiban – Hero
- Adachi – Enforcer
- Saeko/Eri – Idol
- Zhao/Joon-gi – Gangster/Hitman or Host
I experimented with Ichiban as an enforcer, Adachi as a Devil Rocker, Eri as a Dealer (interchanging with Saeko as an Idol), Zhao using his Essence of Ladder Acrobatics skill as a Gangster for damage, and Joon-gi first as a Hitman, switching to Host, then back to Hitman. In the end, this was how I beat True Final Millennium Tower:
- Ichiban – Hero, Legendary Hero’s Bat EX EX, Quixotic armor set, Dragon’s Binding and Bracelet of the Four Gods.
- Adachi – Enforcer, Special Ops Riot Shield EX EX, Quixotic helmet, Dragon kinagashi, Dragon boots, Bracelet of the Four Gods and Dragon Binding.
- Saeko – Idol, Celestial Microphone EX +6, Viking Helmet, Dragon Kinagashi, Dragon Boots, Kiwami Mouthgards and Tiger Belt.
- Zhao – Gangster, Curved Crystal Saber EX EX, Viking Helmet, Dragon Kinagashi, Dragon Boots, Diabolic Wristband x2
Party Members
My strategy was no different from anyone else’s. Ichiban casts Peerless Resolve on himself at every opportunity, should it go, Hero’s Embrace for healing, with the occasional Indomitable Courage when fighting Amon. For attacks, I’d rarely use the Orbital Laser until the very last battle.
Originally, I had Joon-gi in the group as a host due to the elemental damage, but his health was too low, so having an additional healer in Saeko allowed me to have a backup, and also for Ichiban to do the odd damage, or a rare Poundmates call.
For Adachi and Zhao, it would be a combination of their essence moves – the aforementioned Ladder Acrobatics for Zhao, and Shield Rupture for Adachi (I used this as it’s 20 less MP than the storm and not too different in damage. For the majority of the True Final Millennium Tower, you can use Fulminating Forecast (unlocked through the Fortuneteller job, Ice Spreader from Host, and Soul Tether from Fortuneteller to revive fallen members. I ensured all members had this (Saeko can also learn Ice Spreader from the Hostess job.

Boss Strategies
Surprisingly, the bosses were easier than the ‘lower level’ enemies. Here’s my spammy strategy for each boss.
- Saejima – Fulminating Forecast.
- Goro – Fulminating Forecast works, but he’s weak to fire, so using the Chef, Host, or Foreman’s skills can help, but it’s not essential.
- Tendo – Fulminating Forecast!
- Kiryu – Ice Spreader
- Amon – A mixture, though, play it safe. When he summons the above, call the Poundmates Mr Masochist and essentially keep Ichiban and Saeko healing, and gradually they’ll die in order of Amon, Goro, Saejima and Kiryu. By the time you get to Kiryu, spam Ice Spreader. Boring, but it’ll get you through.
As mentioned, it was quite shocking how straightforward the final bosses of True Final Millennium Tower were, and from my perspective, much easier than the first two floors. That said, I can’t stress enough how important it is to have the skills above, notably the Fulminating Forecast, Ice Spreader, and Soul Tether skills, to stay in the game. Equally, stock up on lots of healing items and stash them as you can retrieve them between floors.
If you’re looking to stack gear and need money, I’d recommend completing the second Millennium Tower and buying five Sengoku coffees to use on each boss. This should give you about 50,000,000 ish per run – not enough to max out weapons, but a start!
And if you’re wondering how many hours I put into this, I’ve clocked 121 hours… Never again, but I have the platinum now, so was it worth it? A little.

How I Beat True Final Millennium Tower FAQs
I know people don’t like to read, so here are some FAQs that I think are appropriate.
Do I need to level all my characters to 99?
Yes.
Do I need to level all my job ranks to 99?
No!! However, a minimum of 90 is the requirement for one. I’d suggest 99 for your main job, and level the others to around 30, or grind those that unlock permanent stat increases, such as the Enforcer for defence, Foreman for HP, Breaker for agility, etc.
Is there an easy way to complete True Final Millennium Tower?
No. You can either not go for the platinum, or git gud so you don’t need to grind as much.
What are the best jobs for True Final Millennium Tower?
It’s up to you, but Peerless Resolve is essential, so Ichiban as Hero. You could then have Adachi as Detective/Enforcer/Devil Rocker, Zhao as Gangster and Joon-gi as Hitman/Host. The latter didn’t work for me, so I swapped out for Saeko for the added security of a healer. A longer series of battles, but mildly safer. Eri can be used instead if you like, but I’d forget about Nanba – he’s a bit shit.
How long does it take to beat True Final Millennium Tower?
Hours and hours of grinding, but for the actual battle, about an hour and 30 ish minutes (after repeated revives etc).
Do you need to play New Game+?
I’m not entirely sure, as I was reluctant to do so, but in doing so, you can get duplicate items and job rank boosters, which speed up the Kamurochō sewer grind. Additionally, it unlocks Legend mode, and if you’re prepared to work for it, it also unlocks better rewards, but it means it’s bloody hard. You can still beat the game in Premium adventure without starting a new game, but I started a NG+ and completed the main story really fast. The management game needed to be done again to unlock Eri and the Orbital Laser, and that was a further couple of hours or so.
Is there a way to get boosters in Yakuza: Like a Dragon?
Yes. You can buy some from Fumie (secret shop) for 18,000,000 each, but there’s a cheeky run you can do in Yokohama, where if you repeatedly follow a route and jump in a taxi, you get random boosters such as Guard Booster (increases defence) and more. This can be beneficial, but stat increases are +5 and entirely random. It takes a loooooong time and not particularly fun.
Is there a shortcut/glitch in True Final Millennium Tower?
Not as such, but if you get one of your party members you aren’t using (Nanba!) with the Hariti’s Amulet (stops random encounters), you can avoid the robots on the ground floor. Additionally, after defeating the Juggle-O on one of the floors, you can skip one battle between a scarred yakuza and Undertaker if you enter the next room and run around the outskirts. Other than that, there are no other shortcuts that I’m aware of.
Will you make a Yakuza: Like A Dragon walkthrough/guide?
Hell, no. There are plenty already available, and I’d be repeating what others have found out. I’m just sharing what worked for me. It’s not a guarantee, but if it helps you persevere so you can beat it, fantastic!
