Shifting from Affraid to Blest has me quite angry. It’s rare for me to feel this way, but this is my time, and I’m playing a game that isn’t remotely finished nor offers anything in the way of ‘fun’.
Another third-person buxom presence, you play a holy wench who can summon scantily clad ‘soldiers’ to handle your shit. Sounds good, looks good; however, the animation is poor, the controls are sluggish, and while trying to learn the controls, the tutorial moves through at a pace similar to that of your grandma when she talks at you rather than with you.
Despite my gaming heritage of four (count ’em) decades, I’m not entirely clued up on this common knowledge of asset usage and naive whether Oedipe Games makes the character models and levels themselves or utilises pre-made things. In short, the models are pretty decent, as are the effects; however, for a Ryzen 9 gaming laptop, they appear to jerk about more than a hairy-palmed teenager who’s discovered their dad’s stash of jazz mags.

Whether Blest uses pre-existing assets or not is irrelevant. The game was unplayable for me on both the Steam Deck and my gaming laptop; the gameplay was monotonous and inconsistent – buttons would work, then they wouldn’t.
I don’t want to put people down or discourage creativity, but both Blest and Affraid aren’t pleasant experiences. I won’t lose any sleep, nor will I complain further, as you might enjoy the game(s). Additionally, a playable demo is available on Steam, along with a positive review. Do your stuff, but this is ultimately the end of the road for me and where I get off. And no, you’re barking up the wrong tree if you think this is titillating.
