I’m afraid to spend any more time on this game. My apologies, Oedipe Games. To say this title is far from ready is massively understated. But, in fear of coming across as negative and unfair, let’s dive into why Affraid is not fit for purpose.
We could fill a paragraph with its premise, having read it on the Steam store page to make sure I haven’t missed anything significant, such as it’s the first game created by a blind quadriplegic from war-torn Wakanda whose dream has always been to make a video game and feel bad for being critical (it’s not), and instead what I did find out, is the story is not remotely apparent in the actual game.
So, let’s say this is a survival horror type with Resident Evil influences. That couldn’t be any further from the truth in terms of quality, but that’s to give the perspective that this isn’t Tetris or Forza. You essentially play a buxom character who has had their trousers stolen, revealing their bikini bottom and massive norks – depending on whether you adjust the parameters.

Afraid Review
Don’t kid yourself – you came to Affraid expecting to see tits and ass, and you get it to some degree. I knew, at least; I thought I knew what I was in for with some sultry wooden leads with a spot of action and scares where necessary. The only action was repeatedly clicking buttons and waiting for a response, and the biggest scare was the release date: this was officially released in February 2025. It’s not even Early Access.
So, after customising your lead with big tits and a badonkadonk because you don’t have the internet to look gawp at the ladies, you then wander around a somewhat reflective lab-type room with a mixture of pigeon English and French. My French abilities are secondary school at best, so I had no idea what was being asked. The options state English, yet the languages switch back and forth faster than switching through midnight preview channels (Babestation reference, anyone?).
I end up picking up a toolkit, and after a rather bizarre transition into another room, I have another French objective and a floating chainsaw to cut through random boxes, all the while avoiding zombie street staff. Still no gun, and no idea why there’s an icon to use a medkit showing, encouraging me to press ‘H’, but I don’t have any, and if I walk into a medikit, use it automatically.

Do you know what? I’m not going to go any further with this one, and I’m at a loss for words. If you want to know what others think of Affraid, go check out the Steam page.
I’m quite resentful of applying for this review code and may end up cherry-picking the next ones rather than innocently championing this tosh.
