Donnie’s Delicious Nuclear Disaster Preview: Basement Jack’s

Wanna come to by bro's funeral?

27 December 2025 2 Min Read

We’re back once again for some batshit crazy animation and dialogue in Bubby Darkstar’s Donnie’s Delicious Nuclear Disaster – playable on Steam… now. You might remember Shooty Shooty Robot Invasion. Well, this is the same dude, and they’ve upped the ante with an instant death scene.

Your brother has died, and not knowing what to do with the cadaver, you ask the ‘doc’ if they can assist with the funeral. Of course, but with a fee. However, that fee isn’t cash, but your sibling’s organs, which are undoubtedly priceless, though without possessing the same extraction skills as a coroner, there’s not much else in the way of options unless you want his carcass stinking up the place. As long as you don’t head down into the basement, it’ll be right as rain.

In Donnie’s Delicious Nuclear Disaster, you play as Susie. It’s a point-and-click that has a hint of Eye of the Beholder. No, not dungeon crawling shenanigans, but the UI. In the centre of the screen is the ‘action’, to the left your settings, to the right, your inventory, and at the foot of the screen real estate, the dialogue. You can’t customise the layout here – your dirty laundry has been aired for all to see. Besides, this isn’t a talkie, so you need to read what is being said while the characters talk in Mixmaster Mike scratch-like style.

What I liked about Shooty Shooty Robot Invasion was the fast and frantic aspect, in addition to the eye-popping visuals. It’s an acquired taste, of course, and if you want your games to look like everything else, you might not appreciate the hand-drawn comic style present here. While the same signature illustrative style exists, the fast and frantic element does not due to it being a point and click, so there’s plenty more opportunity to admire the paint job as opposed to what’s under the hood.

Like the most recent Bru & Boegie Get Da MILK!, I absolutely love the presentation, but if you want a bit more substance than visuals, what have we got? Essentially, Donnie’s Delicious Nuclear Disaster is a gathering. Donnie is dead, and Susie is trying to make up the numbers by inviting everyone she meets. Though if you’ll remember, Doc says that you can’t lurk in the basement. Alas, I did, and besides attempting to exit the hospital door a few minutes in, that’s pretty much the demo. Sounds like something you wanna give a look-see? Donnie’s Delicious Nuclear Disaster features a playable demo… now!
