Bru & Boegie: Episode 2 – Get da SUGAR! (And Keep Your Pants On)
I was in a one-man band, but I got fired.
Bru & Boegie: Episode 2 – Get da SUGAR! is even better than the last episode. It has to be. We need progress. Yet, based on my experience of the first game, I’d happily continue with the standard that was set. It’s very quickly becoming one of my favourite point and click games. And I love ’em all, my point-and-click babies. They’re mine, all mine.
The first bit of polish isn’t Bru’s scalp but the visuals. It’s still unmistakably Bru, but in the 30 minutes or so of gameplay, there’s more on offer. The collectable stickers are still there and add further value as they seem pretty easy to obtain. Until you reach the end and realise you haven’t caught ’em all.
The same applies to Bru & Boegie: Episode 2’s new vinyl toys, which are awarded when solving a puzzle with a character. It sounds like I know what I’m talking about, but it’s very early days as this is a live demo that you can play also. I knew about it a while ago as it’s on my wishlist, chums.
From Jailbird Island to da SUGAR
But hang on a minute, before you can relive the previous adventure via the recap, what’s it all about? Bru, your boy, was on a quest to get da MILK. Apologies for the spoiler, though you’ll find out in the demo/store page: Bru gets arrested and thrown in a cell on Jailbird Island.

Your immediate goal in Bru & Boegie: Episode 2 – Get da SUGAR! is to get yourself free; the second is to escape the island to go get da SUGAR. The same modern hotspot options are available to locate everything that Bru can interact with, yet you’ll only use that after manually exploring yourself. It’s not that the demo is about pixel hunting, but there is zero point in rushing through and skipping over it.
Dialogue That Actually Punches
The… point of a point and click game is a multitude of things: adventure, problem-solving, chinwagging with the quirky locals, having a bespoke inventory stuffed down your underpants, and perhaps the art. All of those wants are massively satisfied, and yet the biggest takeaway is the dialogue.
I love the artwork, the quirkiness, and throwbacks to all those proper cartoons from back in the day; however, it’s the topics Bru discusses – the conspiracies, philosophies, and wit – that are simply brilliant.
I kind of expect the humour for the genre; it’s not a given, but it’s so refreshing when it’s this original and doesn’t rely on callbacks about evil tentacles, hamsters in microwaves, and incompetent wizards with funny names.

Bru & Boegie: Episode 2 – Get da SUGAR! is unique, and as I said before, would be great as a complete package once the trilogy is eventually available (a bit like The Journey Down). With that said, I love this so much that I will be one of the first in line, waving at MIKDOG, cash in one hand and a coffee in the other.
Recommended, my fellow adventure fans. It costs nothing to try the demo and then add it to your wishlist. You know it makes sense.
