A pixel-art adventure (sort of), Nine Witches Family Disruption is now available for a number of platforms including the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam and GOG.
I’m pretty candid about my favourite publishers on this website – I can be, it’s my opinion and am not held to ransom by advertising revenues or witchcraft that involves moccasin slippers and tangerines. Team17, tinyBuild are just a few, but one consistent indie developer/publisher is Blowfish Studios.
You might remember reviews for Obey Me and Storm Boy, well this time around it’s the adventure game they’ve published by Indiesruption, and it looks fab. Set in the Sundäe, a Norwegian village in World War II, the inhabitants find that the Third Reich’s Okkulte-55 Division have set up shop.
Their goal is to tap into the supernatural energy present, using it as a tool to secure Germany’s victory in the war, but ‘paranormal researcher Professor Alexei Krakovitz and his trusty assistant Akiro Kagasawa arrive at the Allies’ behest’. This already sounds like a lot of fun.
In Nine Witches Family Disruption you play as both Krakovitz and Kagasawa – the former utilising the powers of astral projection and communicating with the dead, while the latter gets to solve puzzles and mysteries in the town, as well as flex his muscles against the Okkulte-55 threat.
With over 50 characters to interact with, Nine Witches Family Disruption is chock full of absurdist humour and paranormal activity. Quite frankly, my cup of tea.
Throughout my life, I’ve been fascinated by the intersection of the otherworldly and human history…Nine Witches: Family Disruption is my chance to share my interests and sense of humor with the gaming world.Diego Cánepa, designer, Indiesruption
