An existential platformer, Journey of the Broken Circle is a puzzle title from Lovable Hat Cults, quite possibly one of the best dev names out there, is out next week.
What’s it about? It’s about an incomplete circle striving to become whole by rolling through ‘a wondrous and hazardous land’, absorbing various shapes to make it complete.
Each of the shapes encountered has a unique mechanic which can be used to solve the puzzles as you… roll with it. Such skills allow the circle to float, cling to objects or be rewarded with an extra step.
On the comparison between the game and the experience of being human, they wanted to make a game “about a limbless circle. But a very human circle!”
We all feel insecure at times, and our relationships with others simultaneously lift us, but can also make us feel incomplete on our own. That’s never been more true than it is right now, so if our game can help people through this trying time, we know it will have been worth it.
